Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats

So this week I tried my hand at making dog treats for Midna and Ezlo. First, I would like to say I am in no way a "good" baker. I just get by on my mediocre skills to mix things up and put it in the oven an hope it doesn't burn. I tried this recipe because I had just done my annual day of making pumpkin puree, and I like knowing what my furry family is eating. Although my treats did not turn out exactly like the original created by Stephanie Hamilton over at Petanthology.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 1/2 C flour
  2. 2 eggs
  3. 3/4 C pumpkin
  4. 3 Tbsp peanut butter

  1. Instructions:

  2. 1. Combine all ingredients into one mixing bowl to make a dough.

  1. Just a note make sure it is a large mixing bowl, otherwise it may overflow. Yay, for more dishes....
  2.

  3. I was prepared to use my mixer, but I decided it would be easier to use my hands.
  4.
  5. 2. Roll out your dough onto a cutting board. (I used wax paper because my cutting boards were all very small.)

   3. Cut out your treats using the cookie cutter(s) of your choice.

I used a heart shaped cutter because that is what I had on hand, but I wish I had dog themed ones like bones, dog houses, hydrants, or something. The hearts worked out fine. Midna and Ezlo couldn't care less what they shape is.

4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

5. Grease cookie sheet with olive oil or pam cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place cookies onto cookie sheet.

6. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

While we waited for the treats to bake, I cleaned up my workstation, and Ezlo and Midna slept on the couch.

7. When they are done, remove from oven.  Allow to cool, and then ENJOY!

There were more in this jar but they have been eating them up and we brought a small bag to their best doggie friends who live downstairs.

Introducing Dog, Dog, and Cat!

This is Midna! She is the oldest of the bunch at 2 years old. She is also probably the most diabolical. The quiet ones always are...I adopted her one year ago from a local animal shelter. They told me that she was a high-energy terrier mix. Terrier mix maybe, high-energy not so much.

This is Ezlo. He is 12lb of pure energy. He is my little barker. He makes up for Midna's silence. Although sometimes, I swear he dreams of being a cat. Anything the cat does, he thinks he can do to. I found Ezlo a year ago on Craigslist. He was five month old then. I am so grateful I had Midna to help teach him proper doggie manners. I am sure she has saved him from making plenty of doggy faux paws.

Last but not least, Tetra! We (The dogs, my fiance, and myself) adopted Tetra this September. She was a little flea bag wandering around our apartment complex. I had brought her in intending to take her to the animal shelter the next day. See how great that plan worked out...The vet estimated Tetra to be about 5 months old.

Greetings!

This is my first post in this blog! That is pretty exiting. I have wanting to start a blog dedicated to my fur family for a while now. I just kept putting it off while thinking about what I can contribute as a blogger. Today, I am making the leap. I hope that you all find my blog interesting and/or useful.

Note: I am currently taking a college class that requires me to make a blogger profile as if I have already graduated a year from now. Some of the information is true, but the bit about the Master's degree is a year or so away.  The picture is current though!
